HedgeDesk by ProDesk Apps is an AI-powered investment research application for macOS, iPhone and iPad. This Privacy Policy explains how HedgeDesk handles user data when you use the application, on every platform where it is available.
ProDesk Apps is a software provider, not a broker, dealer or financial adviser. HedgeDesk is an analytical tool. We do not execute trades, hold client funds, or provide personal financial advice.
Data stored locally
All user data is stored exclusively on your device. This includes:
- Portfolio holdings and model portfolios — stored in UserDefaults on your device.
- Trade journal entries and screenshots — stored in the app's own Application Support directory on your device (inside the app sandbox on iPhone and iPad).
- Price alerts and alert preferences
- Growth trade scenarios and analysis history
- App preferences — such as font size, theme and LLM provider settings.
- API keys for AI providers — stored in the system Keychain (macOS, iOS or iPadOS), the operating system's encrypted credential store.
We do not have access to any of this data. It never leaves your device except as described in the following section.
Data sent to third parties
HedgeDesk sends limited data to external services to provide its functionality:
- Yahoo Finance — ticker symbols only, used to retrieve price quotes, charts, fundamental data and news. No personal data is included in these requests.
- IMF DataMapper — requests for macroeconomic indicator data. No personal data is included.
- AI / LLM providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI, Kimi) — when you run an analysis, market data context and analysis prompts are sent to the provider you selected, authenticated with your own API key. No personal information is included in these requests.
Subscriptions
HedgeDesk offers optional subscriptions ($5.99/month or $59.99/year) managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, process or store any payment or billing information. Subscription management is handled through your Apple ID.
No tracking
HedgeDesk does not use analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, IDFA or any form of user tracking. We do not collect usage analytics. There are no cookies — HedgeDesk is a native Mac application.
No account required
HedgeDesk does not require account creation. There is no login, no registration and no user profile.
Security
API keys are stored in the system Keychain, the operating system's encrypted credential store. All network requests use HTTPS. All other data is stored in the app's own Application Support directory, protected by operating-system file permissions — and on iPhone and iPad by the app sandbox, so no other app can read it.
Children
HedgeDesk is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of HedgeDesk after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
